I am directed by Mr. Secretary Clynes to refer

2 to your letter 60808/29 of the 19th April, and to

enclose, for the information of Lord Passfield, copies

of correspondence which has passed between the Home

Office and the Treasury Department of the United States

Government at Washington in regard to a seizure at

Seattle on the British steamship "Ixion" of opium

coming from Hong Kong. Mr. Clynes would be glad if

the Government of Hong Kong may be informed of the

contents of the correspondence and instructed to act

as suggested in the last paragraph but one of the

letter of April 11th from the Treasury Department.
